This week I learned that my Building Intelligence image has been selected by the Association of Illustrators to be included in the publication Images 35, a sourcebook containing the work of illustrators based in the UK.
Here are some images due to appear in Dusted magazine later this month. They relate to the rise in tuition fees and to an issue at the University of Derby where members of the Students Union gym have started a petition to help prevent its proposed closure from taking place at the end of this year.
An illustration in response to the rise of Brazil, a country expecting economic growth of around 6% this year. If this continues as many are predicting it should be classed as part of the fully developed world within a decade.
An illustration in response to radio reports revealing that military police will be investigating claims that British soldiers returning from Afghanistan are using military aircraft to smuggle heroin into the UK.
Recent statistics show that the number employees working from home is on the increase. This is largely down to improvements in technology meaning workers don't have to leave the house to earn a living.
I produced this illustration for the Derby branch of From Dusk 2 Dawn magazine, which is due to be released in September providing a voice for the creative community and a platform for up-and-coming creatives to showcase their work. The company's Leicester publication has enjoyed much success over the last two years and the latest version should fit in well with Derby's art loving population. The article talks about how Derby's creative community continues to go from strength to strength despite funds drying up.
The University of Derby degree show, Flair, will be open to the public at the Markeaton Campus from 5-12 June. This promises to be a diverse exhibition with work from a variety of Art and Design Technology subject areas on display. Samples of my work can be seen on the first floor in room 102 along with the work of other third year students studying in the field of Visual Communication, including Illustration, Animation and Graphic Design. Among them will be this piece titled 'Leading the Way'.
